Take a stand.
People with disabilities are still systematically excluded from careers in the legal field due to conscious and unconscious bias thirty-one years after the signing of The Americans with Disabilities Act. Twenty percent of California’s population have a disability but less than 1% in law firms report being disabled according to the ABA Profile of the Legal Profession 2021. Additionally, three percent of state court judges report a disability. Disability Rights Now will collaborate on programming, mentoring, training, internships and when tax-free donations exist provide needed stipends, scholarships and other financial incentives to people with disabilities to pursue careers in the legal field at all levels (attorney, paralegal, secretarial, staff, management, etc.) in private, public, and government settings.
